Toulane in Vogue Arabia: Palestinian Beauty Brands Preserving Culture

In August 2025, Vogue Arabia published a feature titled "These Palestinian Beauty Brands Are Preserving Culture" — and Toulane was one of the brands included.

Written by Jada Jackson, the piece brought together Palestinian beauty founders whose work is rooted in cultural heritage and ancestral ingredients. For us, being part of that story felt like a natural extension of everything Toulane was built on.

Our co-founder Eman Al Sharif was interviewed for the feature. Here is what she shared.

On the inspiration behind Toulane:

"I grew up watching my grandmother and aunts with the most beautiful, glowing skin, thanks to simple, traditional rituals. They used nothing but natural oils and classic Nabulsi soap made from pure olive oil. I wanted to bring that heritage to life in a modern way with a clean skincare line made from 100% natural ingredients and absolutely no preservatives."

On using Palestinian beauty practices in our products:

"Olive oil is truly at the heart of everything we do. It's been a staple of Palestinian beauty routines for generations because it's so nourishing and protective. We use high-quality olive oil in all our products to stay connected to those timeless traditions."

On preserving cultural heritage through beauty:

"I think beauty is such a meaningful way to keep our heritage alive. Skincare rituals aren't just about products, they're about passing down stories, traditions, and values. By using traditional ingredients and methods, we're able to honour where we come from and share that culture with others in an authentic, personal way."

On advocating for and uplifting the Palestinian people:

"At Toulane, we really try to honour our roots through our products, especially our handmade soaps made mainly with olive oil and essential oils, inspired by classic Nabulsi soap. We do source ingredients like lavender and rose geranium from wherever they grow best to ensure the highest quality. But at the core, our formulas pay tribute to the traditional Palestinian rituals I grew up with, helping share our story and culture proudly with the world."

This is what Toulane has always been about. Not a trend. Not a marketing angle. A genuine inheritance — passed down through generations of Palestinian families who knew that olive oil, used properly, was enough.
