Face Oil for Glowing Skin — Why It Works (And Why Most People Use It Wrong)
Share
There's a reason face oil divides people.
Half the people who try it say it transformed their skin. The other half say it sat on top of their face, looked greasy, and they never picked it up again.
The difference almost always comes down to one thing: how you apply it — not what's in the bottle.
What a face oil actually does
A face oil is not a moisturiser. It doesn't add water to your skin.
What it does is seal in the moisture that's already there — and deliver fatty acids, antioxidants, and lipids directly into the skin barrier, where your skin uses them to repair, strengthen, and protect itself.
Think of it as the final lock in your routine. After water-based products have delivered their actives, a face oil closes the barrier and keeps everything in.
This is why the application order matters so much. Oil goes last — or second to last before SPF. Apply it over dry skin with nothing else on, and you've created a barrier between your skin and everything your other products were supposed to deliver.
Why it gives skin a visible glow
The glow from a well-formulated face oil isn't cosmetic. It's structural.
When the skin barrier is well-nourished with the right fatty acids, light reflects off the surface evenly rather than scattering from dry patches and uneven texture. That's what glow actually is — a smooth, hydrated surface catching the light uniformly.
Oleic acid, a naturally-occurring fatty acid found in the skin's own sebum, sinks deeply into the epidermis to provide intense hydration — not just on the surface, but in the layers that determine how skin looks and feels over time. When your skin is running low on these lipids — from heat, air conditioning, hard water, or stress — it shows. The dullness you see is the skin barrier telling you it needs something.
A lightweight botanical face oil delivers exactly what's missing, in a form the skin already recognises.
The oily skin myth
The most common reason people avoid face oil is the belief that oily skin can't use it.
This is the opposite of what actually happens.
When skin is dehydrated — which UAE heat, air conditioning, and over-cleansing all cause — it overproduces sebum to compensate. The oiliness you see is your skin trying to protect a damaged barrier. Giving it the right lightweight oils signals that the barrier is nourished and that excess sebum production can calm down.
The key word is lightweight. A well-balanced botanical formula works for all skin types because it contains the right ratio of oleic and linoleic fatty acids.
Blooming Bliss Face Oil is formulated for exactly this: lightweight enough to absorb without residue, rich enough to nourish the barrier and deliver a visible, lasting glow.
How to apply it — the one step most people get wrong
Most people apply face oil to dry skin over nothing else. This is where the greasy feeling comes from — the oil has nothing to help it absorb.
The correct method takes ten seconds:
After cleansing, apply your toner or water-based serum first. Then, while skin is still slightly damp, warm 2–3 drops of Blooming Bliss between your palms and press — don't rub — onto your face and neck.
Pressing rather than rubbing pushes the oil into the skin rather than moving it around the surface. The slight moisture on your skin acts as a vehicle that pulls the oil in rather than letting it sit on top.
The result: absorbed in under a minute. No greasiness. Just skin that looks like it has had eight hours of sleep.
When to use it
Morning: 2 drops pressed in after toner, before SPF. Gives skin a glow that lasts through the day and sits beautifully under makeup — or without it.
Evening: 3 drops pressed into damp skin after cleansing. This is when the skin does most of its repair work, so overnight is the most effective time for the fatty acids to get to work.
Before events: Blooming Bliss was originally used by our co-founders Eman and Dina as a pre-makeup glow step — pressed in ten minutes before foundation for a luminous, skin-like finish that no primer achieves the same way.
A note on ingredients
Blooming Bliss Face Oil is built on a base of cold-pressed Palestinian olive oil — the same ingredient our family used on skin and hair for generations before it became a skincare trend.
What makes it different from applying olive oil directly is the formulation: balanced with lighter botanicals that adjust the fatty acid ratio for faster absorption, and without the comedogenic risk of raw olive oil used alone.
The result is an oil that works the way olive oil's benefits work — deeply nourishing, anti-inflammatory, barrier-strengthening — without the heaviness.
